Yesterday (2 July), PADI Diving Society members arrived in Curaçao for the 12th Annual Total Submersion Dive Festival ready to dive in and get wet! The following morning, after the orientation and meet and greet with PADI and Ocean Encounters staff members, Teams Red, White and Blue started the dive festival with two great boat dives.
My team (Team Blue) made its way to two must-dive dive sites; Blue Bay Gardens and Snake Bay. While diving Blue Bay Gardens, I was reminded of my mother’s garden. The beautiful mixture of coral and sponges remind me of the lilies, hydrangeas and roses that framed our backyard. And the vast array of fish created this exotic underwater garden. It was the perfect dive to start this amazing week.
Of course the day didn’t just end after the two-boat dives. Society members were back in the water shore diving, taking a PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy clinic and an Olympus photography clinic. One of my favorite things about Total Submersion is mingling with the guests as they come out of the water, so excited to share what they saw, what they learned and how excited they are to get back in!
Later in the evening, Society members attended a luau and Cuban fusion welcome party. Adorned with leis, Society members eat, drank and danced to the Cuban music during Lions Dive and Beach Resort’s Cuban Buffet and Music night. It was a spectacular sight to see as old and new friends enjoyed the infused ambiance as the sun set in beautiful Curacao.
Did I mention – that this was just day one!
